About us

The Leskovac Carnival is an event that has been held since 2006, and the intention is to revive the memory of the Easter processions that moved through the streets of Leskovac in the thirties of the last century. Today, the Leskovac Carnival is one of the most visited events in Serbia.

The idea to create a carnival was found in the discreet intention to move the charm of carnival parties to the streets of the city and make them resemble distant Rio, the Mediterranean, masquerades, the beauty of spacious squares with jugglers, fire eaters, miracles, magicians, guardians of tradition... Then we looked into the native history and customs of the south of Serbia. There, one encountered carolers, dodols, lazars and queens, which inspired the ancestors to organize several memorable carnivals in the twenties and thirties of the last century. Then, in 2006, the Carnival was added to the Barbecue as a sumptuous medallion. The second carnival was interrupted due to the large number of spectators, over 50,000 that evening, because the procession could not make it to the main stage.

Leskovac Majorettes

Leskovac majorettes were formed in June 2001 as the first majorette group in Serbia. The initial choreographies were modeled after majorette groups from the Greek island of Corfu. During the previous years, the group had over 100 guest appearances in Serbian cities and abroad. Most often they perform accompanied by a blech orchestra. They are one of the hallmarks of Leskovac and Southern Serbia, unique in their appearance and extremely attractive to the media and the audience. They are regular participants in all significant touristic, cultural and sporting events in Leskovac, Serbia and the surrounding area. At the national championship and the International Festival of Majorettes and Brass Bands in 2009, they won all the main awards.
